Harbour of Algiers :

  • is located on southern bank of the Mediterranean

  • is the first Algerian port for the goods except hydrocarbons.

  • is related to the world through a vast network of regular lines and tramping (Mediterranean basin, North of Europe, Asia and America ).

  • It has capacities of reception of the various types of ships (up to 50.000 tpl).

  • It has great processing capacities of the large machines and heavy weights.

  • With a geographical situation that conferring a significant hinterland, rich in economic and industrial activity

The harbour of Algiers knew significant levels of traffic in the last few years:

 

 

  • 11,24 millions tons in 2007 (level record of activity);

  • 10,12 million tons in 2006 ;

  • 10,04 million tons in 2005 ;

  • 10,11 million tons in 2004.

It is the 1st national port, for the general goods, containers and passengers. For year 2007 the wearing of Algiers recorded:

  • 27% of the national traffic except hydrocarbons, corresponding to 7,44 million tons in 2007.

  • 58% of the national traffic of the containers, for a realization of 530.521 TEU.

  • 45% of the national traffic of the passengers and this, with 373.538 travellers.
